About the Dashboard

The Department of Basic Education (DBE) works in partnership with the Data Driven Districts Programme to support improved learner outcomes through the increased quality, availability, analysis and use of education data.

The DBE owns the Intellectual Property and code for the DDD Programme system. Provincial Education Departments are granted a perpetual licence at no cost.

The demo site uses anonymised data to protect the privacy of the learners, teachers and schools whose data is on the system.

The DDD Dashboard visualises key education data that is submitted by schools and collected by provincial education departments. The DDD Programme adheres to the requirements of the Protection of Personal Information (PoPI) Act. As a result, personal information (PI) of educators and learners is only available to school level users specific to their school.

SA-SAMS is the DDD Dashboard’s main source of data. SA-SAMS provides schools with a free, easy to use and fully integrated software solution, containing all aspects of School Administration, Management and Governance requirements, in one package.

Staffroom, d6+ Management System and EDUPAC are third party school data management service providers that allow the school data to be extracted and represented on the Dashboard.

The Valistractor tool validates and extracts data before it is displayed on the Dashboard.
